Doing the Math

I was just looking over my calendar for the week, adding up the numbers. It turns out that I have 13.5 hours of meetings scheduled for this week. That's thirteen and one-half hours. Of meetings.

Add to that three classes, 60 essays, about 150 pages of prep reading, three assignments that need to be created, one 4-H meeting, one dance rehearsal, one Family Math night, and assorted other commitments, and I think I'm going to be a dollar short at the end of it all.

Oh, and I still have to do taxes.

13.5 hours/5 days (assuming none fall on the weekend) = GEW needs a vacation.

Because I have to ask: what is Family Math night?

Family Math Night happens at the kids' school. There are various activities for making math fun. The girl, for example, counted how many times, she and her best friend could hop on one foot while holding hands. The Boy played with fraction magnets.

Tomorrow is the biggest meeting day: 6.5 hours in one day. I'm gonna have to squirrel some goodies away in my purse!

That's why I don't like math. ;)

Agree with C. Troubadour--you need a vacation!

I hope you found especially tasty goodies for your meeting. Seriously, 6.5 hours?! That's almost a standard work day.

Family Math Night sounds cute. I like the idea -- though I can imagine the extra time commitment isn't helpful this week.

A vacation... or a clone (preferably one who likes to sit in meetings! But seriously, why on earth that many hours of meetings? Self-governance gone wild!)

The end of school year (K-12) is about to ramp up. Concerts, parties, state assessments, fundraisers, talent show... it's a wonder anything is fun any more, let alone math!
