Yesterday, while leafing through Oprah magazine, I came across quotatons of people answering the question, "What brings you joy?" So I asked the children:
Me: What brings you joy?
The Boy: Stuff
The Girl: Candy
Me:
Hubby: Clearly, we've done a bang up job of parenting.

I'm pretty sure ours would be
Boy: money
Girl: watching movies
Ha ha! Love your husband's response.
My kids would say Power Rangers or a similar superhero thing.
I say, ask them again when they're in their teens and see how the answers differ! ;)
These responses were immediate and took no thought, so I assume their are sincere.
But when the Girl saw our reaction, she revised her answers to "friends."
If they took time to think about it, I do think they might say something like "frogs" and "friends" or "bugs" and "home," respectively.
Still, the Girl totally loves candy, so I'm not surprised about that one. The Boy, actually, is not that into "stuff" (unless it's stuff he has made or stuff he has found) so that one is a bit more surprising.
