I've been feeling like this myself. (I think everyone does at some point, or many points.) I've never wanted to quit so much as I did over Christmas. But now that we're settling into the new house, and the kids are going to bed closer to 8 rather than 10, and I have my fancy new computer, it seems more do-able. But then, I just have the dissertation and 2 kids--not a full teaching job as well. Whew!
And remember, you don't have to write it all today (or yesterday for that matter). Just take one baby step, look through one window, describe one bird, write one bad paragraph.
I can't tell you how many times I said, "You know what? I am totally going to quit" while writing the diss. It was like a valve, and saying it let off just enough steam that I could give it another go. Think it's part of the process!!! Hang in there. And don't beat yourself up for not doing it the way you think you should...just do it any way you can. :)
