Homework from Ink: Crush Edition

After my Casey James "hotness post," Ink tagged me for a crush/lust post. Her post was in response to The Kitchen Witch's post, and they listed crushes that went back in time. However, since I recently did a chronological crush post, I'm going make a very brief list that focuses on the "eternal" and the "now."

#1 and #2 Eternal Character Crushes: A Tie--Butch and Sundance

Okay, truth be told, when it comes to Paul Newman, I might choose Cool Hand Luke or even Hud (the really bad boy) over Butch, but I tend to think of the two (Butch and Sundance) as a package deal (oh, the puns, the puns!).

#3: Mr. Rochester from Jane Eyre

#4: Indiana Jones in Raiders of the Lost Ark

#5: Spike from Buffy the Vampire Slayer

I'm not sure whether or not Spike will stand the test of time, but for now, he's definitely on the lust list. I should probably put him higher on the list since I'm crushing on him so much right now, but he's in the #5 slot since he's the most recent guest to the party.

If you're reading this, I'd love to see your crush/lust list--chronological or eternal--in comments or on your own blog.

Why *is* Spike so sexy? I mean, he's kind of an idiot, at the end of the day. But damn. I found myself getting *so* tired of Angel (who is not particularly to my taste and is a bit of a Mopey Joe, if you ask me) and wanting a lot more Spike-time.

Paul Newman. Sigh. Such a beautiful man.

ALL OF THESE = YES, PLEASE!

Great list.

And I had the same response as Heu to Spike. I think the answer is: he's hot.

I did see some panel gathering where the Buffy cast spoke, and James Marsten is, like, a surfer dude. Nice enough but not Spike Hot. So I am thinking the accent -- and perhaps all the leather and broody angst -- makes a huge difference. ;)

Heu and Ink: I know. I've thought a lot about this. It's got to be the angst. I think his hotness factor when WAY up for me after the episode in which we learned of his pre-vampire life as an untalented, lovesick poet. Somehow, knowing that there was a poet deep inside the soulless vampire made him hotable. Also, I didn't start to really crush on him until after he got his chip in the head, and he seemed more like a "bad boy" instead of a truly evil vampire. I think the mixture of his honesty about his love for Buffy, his occasional sweetness, his protection of Dawn (a.k.a. "Little Bit"), his humor, and his sex talk just make him so lustable.

Also to Ink: Yes, I feel the same about Angel! I thought he was hot in the first few episodes when he was mysterious and lurking, but the guy really has no sense of humor. I suppose he should seem angsty, but, as you say, he comes across as mopey instead.

TKW, I KNOW! Right?

I confess (*sheepish grin*) to having never read or watched Jane Eyre. I hereby promise to put the movie on my list.

jc, I recommend that you first read the book (of *course*), and then watch the 2006 movie with Ruth Wilson and Toby Stephens.

Crushes, I have decided, are a lot more complex for me than I realized. So I might have to take some time before I can do this homework. But I'll be thinking about it, no question about that ...

Love the pictures. Visuals are everything sometimes.
