Just Checking In: Hawaii Edition

I, GEW, am currently in Hawaii, and, upon return to California early next week, will provide photos and highlights. For now, I will just say that we are having a wonderful time and have done lots of great swimming and kayaking. However, I'm afraid that the current score reads as follows:

Man-O-Wars*: 2
GEW : 0

If they go after the kids, I am going to kick some Portuguese Man-O-War ass.

*Or should it be Mans-O-War?

Have an awesome time in Hawaii!! I totally look foreward to pictures, highlights and tales of shenanigans.

And I shudder to imagine what it feels like to be stung by a Man-of-War.

And for plural? I've always called them "Men-of-War." But maybe that's wrong, too? Why is English so weird?

*jealous* (in a good way)

Hope you're having a WONDERFUL time!!!! How great that you're there. Say hi to my cousins who live there (lucky ducks). ;)

Hmmmm. It occurs to me that perhaps Jellyfish Of War is more PC.

Hey, that comment ate my wink -- I think because I put it in html code brackets.

Anyway, add *wink* after my PC comment.

And enjoy the luaus!!!!!!

The JOW stung the wink. Did they sting you GEW? What was THAT like? Enjoy the trip!

The stings really hurt and leave some welts. My first sting also seemed to get into my joints for a few hours. The second sting was milder and more short-lived but did give me one particularly nasty welt. I asked the neighbors (who live here) if they get stung often, and they said no--unless you're unlucky. When I said that I've been unlucky twice, he said that I must be a "magnet." Oh joy. Fortunately, I don't seem to be allergic to the venom in any life-threatening way . . . Thus, I'm swimming to the reefs again today!

Oh, wait, you really got stung? You didn't just flee from one?

Oh sweets! (((((Hugs)))))

I hope those Man-of-Wars don't continue to hound you on your vacation! Have an amazing time in Hawaii!

Oh, GEW! Ouch ouch ouch! I've heard those stings are extremely painful. Hopefully the rest of those tentacled beasts (yes, I just wrote around the pluralization because I haven't got a clue) are on notice. You hear that, jellyfish? Hmmm?

Otherwise delighted that you get to enjoy Hawaii. We're considering it for September -- might ask for tips on what to see and do later!
