You Know What's *Really* Hard?

Well, first of all, apparently, typing a blog post title is really hard, seeing as how I failed to do so correctly on the last post which should have read, "You Know What's Hard?"

Second, and more to the point of this post, parenting is hard. Specifically, it's really hard to know--in the face of things that challenge the kids--when to push them, when to just encourage them, when to comfort them, and when to just back the hell off.

Well, don't push your kids. I mean, they might fall down.

I think we're moving to Charlotte. How 'bout that?

I had one of those moments yesterday. I'm still wringing my hands...

Oh and further - with multiple kids, it becomes even harder. Lessons learned, different personalities needing different levels of parenting and my ever-present need to treat them all "fairly".

I quake a little every time I think about motherhood. But you give me confidence -- really! -- that it can be navigated well. Clearly I don't tell you enough how much I admire what you do with/for your kids' physical and emotional well-being (and for yours too, when you need it).

Your instincts are more than Good Enough, dear GEW.

(((hugs)))

TSB, Ah, well, yes! Good note of caution. And, Charlotte? Dude. I look forward to chatting with you to find out how you feel about it. And I know that Nashville is awesome, but NC, as a state, is one of my faves.

TKW, I know, right? Me, too. Still.

Cathy, Oh, yes, FAIRNESS is a big issue lately. I think it comes up about three or four times a day. At least.

CT, You are so sweet! Thanks for those nice words. Unfortunately, I find that sometimes my instincts kick in AFTER I've done something or said something I shouldn't have. *Afterwards*, my belated instincts, go, "Um, yeah, self? That was not so good. Probably shouldn't handle it that way."

Uhm, I know NOTHING about parenting but I thought your last post title was hilarious!

I am proud of your parenting. And very impressed by it, too.

Dr. No: Yes, I guess that one could have gone a *number* of ways. I hadn't considered all of the possibilities before!

Gaga, Thanks, Mom. I have a good role model!

I think parenting is harder than yoga.

Tell me about it - the older they get, the harder it seems to be. Although you learn a lot from the eldest!
