Popped in to say hi!
Novel procrastinator? Reading or writing?
Wow. Now that's impressive. Good luck, GEW!(Now I'm wondering if anyone has ever written a dissertation in a month. Is that even possible? Took me years.)
Hi, Blonde Duck! I look forward to repaying your social call!TSB, Writing. I'm doing NaNoWrimo. Write 50,000 words in a month--even if they are crappy words. You can click on the icon to check it out. I'm writing a young adult suspense book. I think it's going to teach me a lot about writing, stuff that will probably even help me in my classes! And maybe it will get optioned by Disney, and then we'll be rich!BTW, does anyone else think that Stephanie Meyer seemed to have gotten a lot of her premise from Buffy? Buffy Summer. Bella Swan. BS? Hmmmmmm. . .
Ink! We must have been writing at the same time. Yes, people have tried NaDissWriMo, but I think it was hard--even to write 2,000 words a day is kind of hard, yes?I am feeling so ill-prepared for the diss. I'm a bit confused about my own methodology, and I'm trying to spend some time with theory to sort that out. Bah.
Where are you in the Buffy viewing? I'm so excited that you are doing that. :)And I DEFINITELY understand re: diss. Spent a year reading, re-reading, sorting, etc., and putting together my methodology. Once that was done, though, the rest came much faster. So hang in there...you can do it! I kind of wish I'd gone ahead and written a chapter or two on the literature itself before doing the intro, actually, as it was easier to explain what I was going to do after I'd done it, if that makes sense. But the diss. committee wanted that framework upfront.
Ink, I'm only on disc two of season two, which means I have a LOT left! Yay! I binged while in the UK, but now hubby is along for the ride, so I have to wait for when he's ready for an episode (after he spends every evening prepping calculus lectures--shiver). We just watched the "Halloween" episode on Halloween, and we watched "Reptile Boy" last night (we watched those two out of order to that we could see "Halloween" on Halloween. "Reptile Boy" was awesome. I could just feel Joss Whedon's sense of satisfaction as he took revenge on a frat house. As for the diss, I'm feeling the need to do the exact framework stuff you're talking about. My supervisor wanted me to jump straight into writing, which I did and which has been good I think, but I'm feeling the need to step back and clarify and learn a bit more. I feel ignorant and confused. But I'm also panicked about the fact that the sabbatical time is fading away, and I feel the urge to get a lot of words on the page. Sigh. I probably shouldn't be watching Buffy at all!
